Congratulations to 2007 Recipient Amy
Cunningham, RHIA, CTR, CPC
Each
year, WVHIMA recognizes one member who has made an
outstanding contribution to the profession through volunteer
services to WVHIMA, AHIMA, and other health information
management affiliate organizations, outstanding achievement
in professional practice, leadership in education, and
contributions in research or published materials.
The 2006-2007 recipient
of the Distinguished Member award is Amy Cunningham, RHIA,
CTR, CPC. Amy recently graduated with a Masters in
Education. She was also recently promoted to Assistant
Professor rank at Fairmont State. She has been appointed to
"Leadership Fairmont State" which was picked from numerous
applicants’ nominees for one of only 15 seats. She will be
part of the inaugural class for Fairmont State. This
program is based on the concept of "Leadership West
Virginia" and Amy will train and groom applicants to become
future leaders.
Amy has been very
active with WVHIMA serving as second and third year
Director, Public Relations Chair, Technology Chair, Annual
Convention Education Co-Chair, Bylaws Chair. She has also
served as President, President elect and Treasurer of the WV
Cancer Registry Association. She currently is an instructor
at Fairmont State University in the Health Information
Technology program and serves the WVHIMA board as an
academic liaison.
Amy currently resides
in Bridgeport with her husband, Kevin and their two sons,
Michael and Ben. Congratulations Amy!

Distinguished Member Application
Every year, WVHIMA recognizes one member for outstanding service within the organization. This award is known as the WVHIMA Distinguished member award. Nominations are accepted throughout the year until approximately April 1.
The nominations are tallied by a points system and the person nominated that receives the most points becomes the WVHIMA Distinguished Member for the year. A person may only receive the distinguished member award once in their lifetime.

To be eligible for nomination the candidates must have made an outstanding contribution to the WVHIMA profession in more than one of the following areas.

Service to WVHIMA Members

Outstanding achievement in professional practice

Contributions in research or published materials.

Leadership in education
Candidates for WVHIMA distinguished member must have been an active member of WVHIMA for eight years or longer.
Only one nomination per member per year is accepted.
