Coding Quality
Advisory Committee Year In Review
Chair: Ruth Wingfield
Members: Linda Clagg
WVHIMA CQAC has been very active
during this term. Ruth Wingfield attended the Coding
Roundtable Coordinator Meeting in Chicago on July 18,
2010. This was a great meeting that offered many ideas
and strategies for Coding Roundtable event planning and
execution. The AHIMA Coding Roundtable goal is to have 4
coding roundtables for each state CSA. WV CQAC felt this
was an achievable goal. We wanted to offer roundtables
across the state and offered free attendance/CE hours to
host facility.
The first CQAC Roundtable was held August 27, 2010 at
Cabell Huntington Hospital. 48 individuals registered
and 33 were paid attendees ($25 each). Topics were
Coding Audits and ICD-9-CM 2011 Updates. Thanks to
HealthPort for provider the Coding Auditor speaker, Lori
Brocato.
The second CQAC Roundtable was on December 10, 2010 at
Raleigh General Hospital. 12 individuals participated
and 6 were paid attendees ($25 each). Topics were 2011
CPT Updates and Coding Jeopardy. Thanks to Linda Clagg
for emceeing the Coding Jeopardy Game.
The most recent Coding Roundtable was March 25, 2011 at
CAMC Memorial Campus. 32 individuals registered and 4
were paid attendees ($25 each). Topics were Clinical
Cardiology Electrophysiology and ICD-10 Coding for
Cardiology. Dr. Brett Faulknier did an outstanding job
in explaining cardiac conduction disorders and EPS and
rhythm recapture techniques and procedures.
The CQAC will hold the final Coding Roundtable June 24,
2011 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown. Topics will
include ICD-10-PCS coding and Anatomy/Physiology
Refresher.
We are excited to have had good participation in CQAC
Coding Roundtables and thank our attendees and host
facilities!
If anyone is especially happy with the CQAC activates in
2010-2011, feel free to nominate us for the RACE
(Roundtable Achievement in Coding Excellent) via the
AHIMA State Leader and HOD COP. Nominations begin on
July 1, 2011.
Sincerely,
Ruth M. Wingfield, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, ICD-10 Trainer |
