WVHIMA Annual Convention 2024 & Membership Update

Hello everyone,

I hope this email finds you happy and healthy as we are well into 2024 and quickly approaching springtime!  I want to take this opportunity to update everyone with regard to upcoming events and action items.

WVHIMA Annual Convention May 2024

I am very pleased to announce that we are having another in-person annual convention to be held on Monday, May 6th, through Wednesday, May 8th, 2024.  The location of the convention will be The Greenbrier, 101 W Main St. White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986.  Additional details including convention schedule, speakers, exhibitors, room rates and activities will be communicated in the very near future. Please Save the Date and we look forward to seeing you soon!

WVHIMA Call for Board Nominations

The 2024/2025 call for board nominations has ended.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this process!

WVHIMA Board Election Process & VOTING

The 2024/2025 voting for board positions will START on March 11th, 2024, and END April 1st, 2024.  The ballot is currently being finalized, and we have the following board positions that will be on the ballot.

  1. President-Elect – two candidates
  2. Directors – three candidates
  3. Nominating Committee – three candidates
  4. Secretary – one candidate

Continue to watch for communications from WVHIMA, and please ensure to vote!  Every vote counts!

AHIMA Advocacy Summit and Capitol Hill Day

Please note that your board of directors continues to work closely with AHIMA and members of the US Congress, the current presidential administration, national healthcare organizations and other stakeholders to advance our public policy agenda.  Below are the agenda items covered during our visit to Washington, DC on March 11th-12th, 2024.

  1. Improve individuals’ health journey through access to information, privacy and equity.
  2. Ensure the quality, integrity, and usability of health information.
  3.  Advance healthcare transformation.

The WVHIMA Board of Directors will provide a more detailed update of our work in Washington, DC after the AHIMA Advocacy Summit.

As mentioned, there will be more details to follow regarding the WVHIMA Annual Convention in May 2024.  Thank you to the board for all of their continued hard work, and to the membership for your ongoing support and participation!
